Curated by Hungarian director and jury member Luca Tóth, this complication program is dedicated to young talent emerging from Hungary. Hungarian animation has a long and rich heritage, a history that the 1989 revolution impacted heavily. This crop of young animators were born around the time of the revolution and their work reflects an awareness of social and political circumstances, past and present. From fantastical tales of tigers on a magical island to contemplative interviews of immigrants living Budapest, this special showcases the breadth of Hungarian animation talent today.
The program will include a short Q&A with Tóth after the screening.
