Practical Info

Hi There!

Welcome to the eleventh edition of the KLIK Amsterdam Animation Festival, five wondrous days dedicated to animation in all its incarnations – shorts and feature-length films from all over the world, a thrilling competition program, fascinating master classes, wild parties, immersive VR experiences, and this year’s big theme: State of Mind.

Here is everything you need to know.

How to get to KLIK

IJpromenade 1

Exiting through the back entrance of the Central Station, you’ll be able to see both EYE across the water. Take the ferry in the direction of Buiksloterweg. If you have a bike, feel free to take it along with you. EYE is to your left hand side and is only a short walk away.

The ferry service runs 24/7 and is free.

Busses 38 and 105 stop close to the ferry in Amsterdam Noord (bus stop: Buiksloterwegveer), at three-minute walking distance from EYE.

THE BUTCHER Social Club / Forbidden Garden, Overhoeksplein 7

Situated on the first floor of THE BUTCHER Social Club, the Forbidden Garden and Sir Adam's Studio's will be the setting of this year's Filmmakers HUB. Join us there for the Industry Events on Thursday 11 October and our legendary KLIK KLIK BOOM Party on Saturday. You can expect snazzy drink, groovy music, and a great night out.

Badhuiskade 3

Unless otherwise stated. Films in other languages have English subtitles.

Feeling lost and distraught? Have no fear – our volunteers are here. Stationed at the KLIK desk at the entrance, they will be available for the duration of the festival to answer all your questions.

We've grouped animated shorts into kick-ass programs. That's why you can't get a ticket for individual short films. Instead, enjoy our carefully crafted compilation screenings.

The restaurant in EYE will cater to all your culinary desires during the day. Most nights you can join us for drinks at the KLIK Café in the foyer (next to EYE 1). Sniff them out or ask a volunteer to help you on your merry thirsty way. If you feel like a change of scenery, hop across the street to our friends at THE BUTCHER Social Club for drinks and meaty mains.

This year the KLIK-famous klikkers are making a comeback! Pick up yours at the KLIK desk and get 'klikking', because clapping is soooo 2017.

Since we like to keep a healthy balance of work and play, a variety of daily workshops will be on offer in the KLIK Café. Inquire at KLIK desk about the workshop of the day and come by to check out what the creative forces of the Cardboarders have in store for you.

Staying in Amsterdam

For the most pleasant KLIK experience we recommend the fancy Renaissance Hotel where our jury members and special guests will reside, Other options are the comfortable Ibis Amsterdam Centre and Aitana, the hip hostel The Flying Pig or the designy St Christophers. All of them (except for The Flying Pig's second location Downtown) are within a 5-10 minute walk of KLIK's festival location EYE.
